Grand Lake, CO (October 30, 2014)– The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), working in conjunction with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. (CSE), announced the expansion of its IWLCA Recruiting Tournament Series with the addition of the deBeer Midwest Cup. The inaugural Midwest Cup will take place June 27-28, 2015, at Voice of America Metro Park in West Chester, OH and feature student-athletes from the graduating classes of 2016-2018.
Gothard Lane, IWLCA Executive Director, said, “We added this sixth event to our Recruiting Tournament Series to address the requests and travel schedules of our teams from the Midwest region. It is also great to expand our partnership with deBeer who already sponsors our President’s Cup and Western Cup.”
“We are focused on revolutionizing the game and developing the products of the future,” said Ryan Harrington, business director for deBeer Lacrosse. “We are proud to add the Midwest Cup to the IWLCA Recruiting Tournament Series and watch some of the top young athletes in the country compete.”
Next month’s deBeer Presidents Cup will attract 279 teams from across the country and more than 6,000 student-athletes from the graduating classes of 2015-2017 to Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL and Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, FL. from November 21-23. More than 500 college coaches representing 300 universities are registered to attend the sold out tournament.
The sport’s skyrocketing popularity is reflected in the growth of the IWLCA Recruiting Tournaments over the last three years. In addition to witnessing tournament field sizes triple, more college coaches have witnessed game action first-hand than ever before. An average of 225 college coaches traveled to each IWLCA sanctioned tournament in 2014 to date.
