The midfield is made up of three players who play offense and defense. Unlike attackmen and defense, midfielders can go anywhere on the field. Midfielders must be very athletic to be able to play both offense and defense. Most midfielders do not take as many checks as attackmen do, so most play with arm pads rather than more protective arm guards. Like attack, midfielders play with short sticks (30" shaft). The midfielder's job is to score goals and/or prevent the offense from scoring. Some midfielders take face-offs to get possessions. On offense, midfielders usually dodge from above the goal.
