Core strength

Training the core provides many athletic benefits including injury prevention and performance enhancement. Coach Norman believes core work should serve as the foundation for all training activities, and must be a priority in any training program. The first section on Core Stability includes more than 15 exercises designed to strengthen the muscles that support and stabilize the spine. The Dying Bug Progression, Stability Ball Supine Resistance, and Transverse Cable Rotation are a few examples of stability exercises utilized by Norman to train elite level athletes. The next series includes over 25 exercises for Core Strengthening, which is broken down into sagital, rotary, and multi-planar movements. Combo Crunch progressions, Upward Cable Rotations, Bosu Supermans, and Coach Norman's unique Manual Resisted Lying Hip Rotation exercise is presented. Lastly, Core Power training in the transverse and sagital plane is demonstrated. These drills involve ballistic movements with the Medicine Ball that are common to many sport-specific requirements. Coach Norman presents several Side Toss and Overhead Toss variations. In conclusion, Norman outlines two variations of program design and implementation options; integrated core training and isolated core training. 57 minutes.
